Water Fountains

As an “adult” you get to enjoy many luxuries and amenities you don’t as a kid. You get to drive places, drink beer, and stay up late. You live in your own place, and come and go as you please. But, have you ever stopped to consider some of the amenities you lose as an adult?

I’m sure my readers will be sure to point out things like having your laundry done for you, or having someone pick out your clothes for you, or having relatively few responsibilities. However, there is one thing from my childhood I’ve found myself missing lately: Water fountains.

It occurred to me the other day just how much work goes in to just consuming water. First you have to have cups. Disposable, glass, whatever. You have to have cups. Then, you have to either wash them, or buy new ones or whatever. If you have a filtration system, you have to clean the filter in that. Or, if you drink tap water you’re constantly waiting for it to get cold, or hot. Then you have to potentially wash cups. Whether you do it in a dish washer or the sink, it’s gotta be done. This takes time. Effort, and potentially energy. Not very green. So what do I want?

I want a water fountain. In my house. A la elementary school. Does it sound ridiculous? Potentially. However, think of the convenience. I’m thirsty. I can just jam by my water fountain and get a drink. No wasted water waiting for it to get cold. No crazy refrigerator filtration system. No cups to wash. It’s perfect, it’s quick, it’s easy.

Why don’t more houses have water fountains? When I get my own casa, that’s going to be number one on my list. Hot tub? Pool? Dual Sinks? Sq FeeT? Whatever. Water fountain.
